Fantasy Payday – May 2020 Edition

cash1

2020 will go down as one hell of a year, starting of with the devastating Australian bush fires, and then the whole world being thrown into a spin due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And while most professional sport around the world has been halted by March because of COVID-19, fantasy sport buffs have tried to forge ahead, in the vain hope that sport will soon return, and allow our fantasy sport competitions to continue.

As usual, I have joined a number of cash competitions in various fantasy sports, and I will be hoping that I can turn around my poor form from last year, where for the first time since I started playing fantasy sports for cash, my yearly winnings balance was in the negative. Not only did I not break even with my competition registration fees, I did not win a single cent. Unprecedented!

Yearly Fantasy Sport Winnings:

  • 2019: -$220
  • 2018: $316.25
  • 2017: $515
  • 2016: ???

Ouch. While I could claim to be unlucky, the numbers don’t lie. Anyway, not much to do except get back on the horse, and here is my spend so far for 2020:

2020 Fantasy Sports Spend:

  • $50 – Tackle Happy 2020 NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $25 – Sandow Memorial VI NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $50 – The Bowman Cup X NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $20 – NRL SC Stats Pass
  • $5 – NRL Supercoach Stats Website Donation
  • Fantasy spend to date 14/5/2020: $150

2020 Fantasy Sports Balance:

  • Fantasy Sports Winnings Balance to date 14/5/2020: -$150

All the usual suspects are there, but I am hoping that I can turn my form around. There is still a chance of that, as I have had a solid start in NRL Supercoach, and I also have been performing solidly in the FPL, should the EPL actually ever actually finish it’s season.

March Magic / Madness! – 2020 / COVID-19 Edition

sad knights fan

Well, what a year 2020 is turning out to be. The fact that this post about March Magic is coming out in May can give some context as to how shell shocked I am! Well, March Magic was pretty much blown out by the COVID-19 pandemic not only wreaking havoc all over the world, but also putting a stop to all professional sports, and thus, putting a halt to all fantasy sports.

Since COVID-19 has been covered everywhere, so no need to cover it here. This blog is about my personal fantasy sport career, and in no means am I disrespecting those affected by this pandemic, there is just a time and a place for everything, and this place is for my fantasy sport journey.

The English Premier League has been halted with just 9 Gameweeks left, the NRL halted after just 2 rounds, and the AFL after just 1 round. So while I should have been up to my neck in fantasy sport, come the start of March, I was soon all out of fantasy sport games to play. Sad face.

Anyway, it now looks like things may be looking up, with the NRL having set a May 28th date for the competition to restart, the EPL is aiming for a restart in July, while the AFL seems to not have settled on a return date yet (what a shame).

So, time to soak up what will no doubt go down as the most unique year of fantasy sport in history.
