NRL Tipping Season Review – 2020

Boongas NRL Tipping 2020

I am not usually huge on taking note of results from tipping, as it is not really a fantasy sport, and is almost reliant on luck than skill. However, a few people have gotten a kick out of taking part in Boongas NRL Tipping Competition, and the banter has improved. Anyway, after my red hot EPL Tipping, I figured it is probably worth taking note of tipping results in general. So here it is, the results for NRL Tipping in 2020. The overall rank below, looks worse than it is!

September Silliness! 2020 Edition

What a mess! With sports seasons being disrupted in 2020 due to the COVID19 Pandemic, seasons of different sports codes are overlapping their starts and finishes. September is currently full of fantasy sport interest, with a whole lot going on…

  • English Premier League – The 2019/20 FPL has only just finished, but a new season has just started. I expect FPL to be quite tough this season, given the speed of the start of the season, and the lack of time for research. No La Liga Mas Valiosa, but have joined 2 small cash comps, Strawberry Garden Classic League, and the Pickin’ Strawberries H2H League. Exciting! Sportsdeck EPL is going to be tough though, as I have already stuffed up my starting team.
  • NRL – Supercoach H2H Grand Finals are this week. I have only made one GF, luckily in my main cash league, The Tackle Happy NRL Supercoach League, so at least I have guaranteed the runners up prize! I am also still in the “Bottom 8” GF of the Bowman Cup, which if I win, I score $50, nice! Also, after a fast start in the NRL tipping, I have come back to the Peloton, and am slowly sliding down the ladder.
  • NFL – Off to a good start in the Tackle Happy NFL League, despite what ESPN graded as “the second worst draft list” in our league. 2 from 2 so far. Also off to a decent start in NFL Sportsdeck.
  • AFL – AFL Supercoach was pretty much a write off, AFL seemed to get their pandemic scheduling all wrong, making it hard to be interested or to follow. However, AFL? Who cares?

So, exciting times this week, with so much happening in a fantasy sports sense. Hopefully, I will not be unlucky!

August Awesomeness! 2020/COVID19 Edition

fantasy sport splashFantasy sports season overlap is generally what makes August so awesome! However, given the state of the world due to COVID19, sports the world over have been affected, thus making trying to organise and run fantasy sport competitions a real pain. Anyway, we carry on as best we can, so here is a run down of where I am at this August!

  • NRL Supercoach -Supercoach this season has been super tough! I thought I was doing OK this season, but with one regular season game to go, I am on the verge of dropping out of the finals race for all my cash leagues. D’oh! If I manage to win my match ups this week, I will make it to finals, but my team has had a tough trot in the last week or two, and a few too many risky decisions in the last few weeks could send me crashing out. Unlucky!
  • AFL Supercoach – COVID19 2020 season of AFL is a disaster, making it even harder to care about this.
  • EPL starts agaian in just over two weeks, after the whirlwind finish to last season. This will be another compromised season, making FPL and Sportsdeck a tougher propersition than in past years.
  • NFL starts again in just a few weeks, and I have no idea what is going on. Time for some research if I want to have a chance!
  • Tipping – NRL tipping has been OK, I had a great start, but have now fallen back to the pack.

With the last year of fantasy sports having been disrupted due to COVID19, I sense that a lot of people are experiencing some “Fantasy Fatigue”, as am I. Cash leagues look like collapsing, as fantasy managers struggle to come to terms with short turn arounds, and confused timetables. It will be interesting to see how it all turns out!

March Magic / Madness! – 2020 / COVID-19 Edition

sad knights fan

Well, what a year 2020 is turning out to be. The fact that this post about March Magic is coming out in May can give some context as to how shell shocked I am! Well, March Magic was pretty much blown out by the COVID-19 pandemic not only wreaking havoc all over the world, but also putting a stop to all professional sports, and thus, putting a halt to all fantasy sports.

Since COVID-19 has been covered everywhere, so no need to cover it here. This blog is about my personal fantasy sport career, and in no means am I disrespecting those affected by this pandemic, there is just a time and a place for everything, and this place is for my fantasy sport journey.

The English Premier League has been halted with just 9 Gameweeks left, the NRL halted after just 2 rounds, and the AFL after just 1 round. So while I should have been up to my neck in fantasy sport, come the start of March, I was soon all out of fantasy sport games to play. Sad face.

Anyway, it now looks like things may be looking up, with the NRL having set a May 28th date for the competition to restart, the EPL is aiming for a restart in July, while the AFL seems to not have settled on a return date yet (what a shame).

So, time to soak up what will no doubt go down as the most unique year of fantasy sport in history.

March Magic! 2019 Edition

Fantasy-Sports

There are 2 months of the year where fantasy sport worlds collide. These months are March and August, when the seasons of NRL and EPL overlap, and I am caught up in a maelstrom fantasy sports gaming! Right now, the NRL season has started (NRL Supercoach, Fantasy NRL, NRL Footy Tipping), as well as the AFL season (AFL Supercoach). The English Premier League is also starting to near its conclusion (Fantasy Premier League), so I have my hands full trying to stay on top of it all. Here is a bit of a rundown of what is happening:

NRL Supercoach:

2019 r2 sum

Two rounds in and already on the back foot. Not the best start, but I have been here before and I am confident I can work my way out of this one. An overall rank of 29,267 is a slight worry after two rounds though, so I will need to turn my form around promptly. I want to get my average score over the 1000 point mark this season. To be fair though, this last round I was little bit UNLUCKY!

NRL Fantasy:

nrl fant r2 score

Giving the “official” NRL Fantasy game a go this year. It is a salary based fantasy game, similar to Supercoach, but somehow lacking in terms of ease of use, Graphic User Interface, and media coverage in general. Using this platform this year instead of Sportsdeck, just give it a try and change it up a bit. Seems pretty ordinary so far, but, you know, “official”.

NRL Footy Tipping:

nrl tips r2 table 2019

Gah! A horrible start in this free, playing for pride competition. Must beat those pesky family members!

AFL Supercoach:

R1 2019 rank

New season just started, pretty ordinary rank after Round 1, even if I am happy with team set up. Oh well, not too worried about this one.

Fantasy Premier League:

2019 GW 31 OR FPL

Not a great OR at the moment, but I am confident that I can push up the ladder in the last 7 Gameweeks. I am still in the running for some prizes from La Liga Más Valiosa, which has now become my main concern. However, I will need to stay on my toes and monitor the EPL closely, otherwise I could get rather UNLUCKY!

SO rather busy at the moment, but I could be busier! I am not taking part in any A-League fantasy sports, as I just am not at all interested in the A-League at the moment, as it really is a sub standard competition at the moment. Not paying a whole lot of attention to NRL Fantasy either, I just wanted to try it out, and it seems pretty lame so far, probably better sticking to Sportsdeck in the future.
