NRL Supercoach Season Review – 2022

Gah, what a miserable season. Only one thing to do, and to keep it short and sweet, it is just too painful to go over it all in detail, a bona fide stinker! While not quite the worst season that I have ever had (309 places short of that!), it is damn close. An argument can be made that there were more people playing this season, so it is slightly tougher to make your way up the ranks, but I say poppycock to that! As I become more experienced with the game, there really is no excuse, even if I did pursue what I knew was a deliberately risky strategy of starting with Turbo, even against my better judgement. Add to that plenty of misfortune with late outs and injuries, this season was destined to be doomed. This season, I had at least 4 late outs affect me, as I was working and unable to check team lists, at least another 4 injuries that struck the week I traded a player in or the week after, not to mention at least another 4 players that stopped performing once I got them in my team! *Sigh* Yeah you could say I was UNLUCKY! But I would rather put it down to bad management on my behalf, which led to said bad luck.

20173,221

201916,625
20208,919
20211,109

Anyway, plenty of bad decisions were made, and some of this mentality carried over to my FPL team, but that is another story. So without further ado, here are the NRL Supercoach cash competitions that I was a part of this year:

  • The UNLUCKY! Cup
  • Cash Kings $100
  • The Bowman Cup XII
  • Cash Kings $50
  • Plenty Pineapples
  • Sandow Memorial 8

To indicate how bad a season I had, I only reached the GF in 2 Bottom 8 Cups (Bowman XII Cup and Cash Kings $50), although I did win both. Unfortunately, only The Bowman Cup XII had a prize for this, which was a rather generous $100, so not a total disaster. The real kicker was that I did not qualify for any of the playoffs in The UNLUCKY! Cup (formerly the Tackle Happy League), something that has never happened before! Yikes! I also took part in the following FREE leagues:

  • UNLUCKY! FS League
  • ADDICTS CANBERRA 1

No such luck in these, wiped out also. So, where to from here? I will spend the off season licking my wounds, and dwelling on the fact that I pushed against so many of my usual strategies and philosophies that I have made for myself on how to play the game. Next season may spell a return to the more “conservative” approach, where I stick to the basics and go for a more risk averse approach. Plenty of time to think about it. Unlucky!

Fantasy Payday – August 2022 Edition

It ain’t getting any better. So far, not looking like I am going to get anything out of my NRL fantasy games this season, I have done that poorly. Short of some kind of a massive upset in my NRL Supercoach Bottom 8 GF’s , I am going to get a total blank. Not only will it be close to my worst NRL Supercoach season ever, it will also almost certainly be my worst financial outcome for a fantasy season. Man, what a stinker. Unlucky!

Fantasy Payday – June 2022 Edition

Money flying away. That’s what this year may be in terms of fantasy sports for me, as in one of my usual main earners, NRL Supercoach, I am having a dumpster fire of a season. This was always a possibility as I took a rather aggressive / against my better judgement strategy into this season, and now I am paying the price. Unlucky! Anyway, last seasons FPL winnings are in, so time for an update.

Fantasy Payday – May 2022 Edition

I am a bit late with the first Fantasy Payday of the year, but mainly because things don’t look so good on the winning side of things, regardless of how I am actually fairing in fantasy sports this year. Oh well. I have gone hard on NRL Supercoach this year, but had a terrible start to the season, due to my pig headedness. Live and learn, although in my defence, I knew I was going with a high risk/high reward strategy, and expected it to possibly all go horribly wrong. Anyway…

2022 Fantasy Sports Spend:

  • $50 – The UNLUCKY! Cup 2022 NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $25 – Sandow Memorial 8 NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $50 – The Bowman Cup XII NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $50 – Cash Kings $50 NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $100 – Cash Kings $100 NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $50 – Plenty Pineapples NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $25 – NRL Supercoach Plus Pass
  • Fantasy Sports spend to date 10/5/2022: $350

That’s already more than I spent on all my fantasy sports last year, and have not even got around to the next EPL or NFL season. Whoops! Worse yet, not looking like I am gonna win a brass razoo out of any of this, going on how I am currently travelling. Still time to claw something back, but it would make sense to go from my most successful year straight into my least successful year, I seem to see-saw like that! Unlucky!
