Fantasy Payday – June 2024 Edition

So, managed to pull a small prize for my FPL season, from The UNLUCKY! League. I managed to place second in that , earning myself a nice little consolation prize of $30. Not much, but it all adds up to try and get you over the line when trying to break even at the end of the year.

Fantasy Payday – April 2024 Edition

A surprising, but very welcome first win in NFL Fantasy has set me up well for the year ahead as far as fantasy sports winnings go. There is also a possibility that I will pull something out my FPL competition this season, so things are looking positive, for now! Can I manage to avoid the dreaded fantasy sport recession? Only time will tell. Anyway, let’s get into the state of financial play for my fantasy sports dealings…

So, as can be seen, in with a real chance of being able to return to being in the black, especially as I am currently ensconced in the top 2 positions of The UNLUCKY! League FPL competition, which will only get me a small prize, but every dollar counts! However, I am feeling a bit more confident with my chances in NRL Supercoach, as I have gotten off to a pretty solid start, but of course, pride comes before the fall. Best try not to be UNLUCKY!

Fantasy Payday – October 2023 Edition

Well, that’s what you get for playing too many fantasy games, you end up losing a shitload of money. Fuck me, another year to write off. What the hell is going on? I fucking suck at this and pretty much everything in life. Another record. 2 losing seasons in a row now, that’s a first. If I was to have another losing season next year, it would be official that I have entered a fantasy sports recession.

2023 Fantasy Sports Spend:

  • $50 – The UNLUCKY! Cup 2023 NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $25 – Sandow Memorial 9 NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $50 – The Bowman Cup XIII NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $100 – Greenback Getta NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $50 – Juicy Pineapples NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $25 – NRL Supercoach Plus Pass
  • $5 – NRL Supercoach Stats Website Donation
  • $50 – Fiddy Bucks FPL Draft Competition

  • $20 – Tackle Happy NFL Fantasy Competition
  • $50 – Pioneers $50 NFL Sportsdeck Competition
  • Fantasy Sports spend to date 6/10/2023: $425

So, now that there are no competitions starting or ending for the rest of 2023, well, it’s official. Worst fantasy year on record. I did not win a single prize, which is a first for me. While it does not feel like that bad a year (mainly due to a resiliant fighting effort in NRL Supercoach, and a OK start to the FPL season.), really, it has been very poor. I will have to work hard to avoid that dreaded fantasy recession!

2023 Fantasy Sports Balance:

  • 2023 Fantasy Sports winnings balance to date 6/10/2022-$425

Wow, that is a sad sight. *SIGH*

Yearly Fantasy Sport Winnings:

  • 2023: -$425
  • 2022: -$330
  • 2021: $679
  • 2020: $120
  • 2019: -$220
  • 2018: $316.25
  • 2017: $515
  • 2016: ???
  • 2015: ???
  • Fantasy Sports Career winnings to date 6/10/2023: $952.25

Urgh. Even my carrer winnings is starting to look bad. So, next year could be make or break. I am almost of a mindset to cut way back on my fanatsy sport spend next year, as it will be heading into reckless and foolish territory if I continue spending like I am on, given my current form. The answer is a change in fantasy form, but that is easier said than done. As for the competitons that are still this year, probably too early to tell for sure, but some positive starts, which have helped to stop me from “flipping out” completely about my prospects of winning. Could a fantasy “retirement” be on the cards? That would be unlucky!

Fantasy Payday – March 2023 Edition

Tabula Rasa. That is what is needed for this season. However, even that may not help me, as I am off to the WORST start to an NRL Supercoach season ever. So bad, I am seriously considering having to cut down on my cash leagues next season, just because hot damn, I literally don’t know what I am doing anymore. My brother who has never played before is beating me this season, WTF? More on that some other time, but these are the comps that I have entered this season, but seriously, after such a poor showing, I am not expecting any kind of return.

2023 Fantasy Sports Spend:

  • $50 – The UNLUCKY! Cup 2023 NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $25 – Sandow Memorial 9 NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $50 – The Bowman Cup XIII NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $100 – Greenback Getta NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $50 – Juicy Pineapples NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $25 – NRL Supercoach Plus Pass
  • $5 – NRL Supercoach Stats Website Donation
  • Fantasy Sports spend to date 10/3/2023: $305

Hard to swallow that 4 rounds in and my season is almost over. Talk about Unlucky! I am going so bad, I can’t even bring myself to pop some kind of meme at the bottom of this post. Unlucky!

Fantasy Payday – September 2022 Edition

OK, so maybe things get better. Having thought that I had totally bummed out of all my fantasy sports cash leagues, I did manage to snag a prize, in the shape of Winner of the Bottom 8 of The Bowman Cup XII. Of all the Bottom 8 Cups to winner, by far this was the best, with a prize of $100! Can’t complain about that! That does round out my competition outlay and prize winnings for the year, so this is what my Fantasy Payday looks like for the year 2022:

2022 Fantasy Sports Spend:

  • $50 – The UNLUCKY! Cup 2022 NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $25 – Sandow Memorial 8 NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $50 – The Bowman Cup XII NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $50 – Cash Kings $50 NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $100 – Cash Kings $100 NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $50 – Plenty Pineapples NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $25 – NRL Supercoach Plus Pass
  • $10 – The UNLUCKY! League FPL H2H Competition
  • $50 – Fiddy bucks FPL Draft Competition
  • $20 – Tackle Happy NFL Fantasy League
  • $20 – Lob$ter Bowl Sleeper NFL Fantasy League
  • Fantasy Sports spend to date 26/9/2022: $450

2022 Fantasy Sports Winnings:

  • $20 – The UNLUCKY! League H2H FPL Competition 3rd/4th Place
  • $100 – The Bowman Cup XII NRL Supercoach League – Bottom 8 Winner
  • Fantasy Sports winnings to date 26/9/2022: $120

2022 Fantasy Sports Balance:

  • 2022 Fantasy Sports winnings balance to date 30/6/2022: -$330

So, this leaves me with the dubious title of being the worst season of fantasy sport on record. Yes, I did enter a record amount of competitions, but at the same time, my obviously extremely poor showing in NRL Supercoach was the main culprit. Of all years to play a high risk strategy, I choose the one year where I have outlaid the largest amount on competition entries. What was I thinking? Unlucky!

Yearly Fantasy Sport Winnings:

  • 2022: -$330
  • 2021: $679
  • 2020: $120
  • 2019: -$220
  • 2018: $316.25
  • 2017: $515
  • 2016: ???
  • 2015: ???

Fantasy Payday – August 2022 Edition

It ain’t getting any better. So far, not looking like I am going to get anything out of my NRL fantasy games this season, I have done that poorly. Short of some kind of a massive upset in my NRL Supercoach Bottom 8 GF’s , I am going to get a total blank. Not only will it be close to my worst NRL Supercoach season ever, it will also almost certainly be my worst financial outcome for a fantasy season. Man, what a stinker. Unlucky!

2022 Fantasy Sports Spend:

  • $50 – The UNLUCKY! Cup 2022 NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $25 – Sandow Memorial 8 NRL Supercoach Competition

Fantasy Payday – June 2022 Edition

Money flying away. That’s what this year may be in terms of fantasy sports for me, as in one of my usual main earners, NRL Supercoach, I am having a dumpster fire of a season. This was always a possibility as I took a rather aggressive / against my better judgement strategy into this season, and now I am paying the price. Unlucky! Anyway, last seasons FPL winnings are in, so time for an update.

2022 Fantasy Sports Spend:

  • $50 – The UNLUCKY! Cup 2022 NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $25 – Sandow Memorial 8 NRL Supercoach Competition

  • $100 – Cash Kings $100 NRL Supercoach Competition

  • Fantasy Sports winnings to date 30/6/2022: $20

2022 Fantasy Sports Balance:

  • 2022 Fantasy Sports winnings balance to date 30/6/2022: -$330

Fantasy Payday – May 2022 Edition

I am a bit late with the first Fantasy Payday of the year, but mainly because things don’t look so good on the winning side of things, regardless of how I am actually fairing in fantasy sports this year. Oh well. I have gone hard on NRL Supercoach this year, but had a terrible start to the season, due to my pig headedness. Live and learn, although in my defence, I knew I was going with a high risk/high reward strategy, and expected it to possibly all go horribly wrong. Anyway…

2022 Fantasy Sports Spend:

  • $50 – The UNLUCKY! Cup 2022 NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $25 – Sandow Memorial 8 NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $50 – The Bowman Cup XII NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $50 – Cash Kings $50 NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $100 – Cash Kings $100 NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $50 – Plenty Pineapples NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $25 – NRL Supercoach Plus Pass
  • Fantasy Sports spend to date 10/5/2022: $350

That’s already more than I spent on all my fantasy sports last year, and have not even got around to the next EPL or NFL season. Whoops! Worse yet, not looking like I am gonna win a brass razoo out of any of this, going on how I am currently travelling. Still time to claw something back, but it would make sense to go from my most successful year straight into my least successful year, I seem to see-saw like that! Unlucky!

Fantasy Payday – November 2021 Edition

November is a bit later than ususal for one of the last Fantasy Paydays of the year, but I have been a lazy bum, so time to catch up! In 2021, a new benchmark has been set! 2021 Will go down as my most fiscally successful fantasy season on record, where I managed to clear $679 in prize winnings! Sensational! Even more impressive given that this year, I have entered a record amount of cash competitions.

2021 Fantasy Sports Spend:

2021 Fantasy Sports Balance:

  • 2021 Fantasy Sports winnings balance to date 16/11/2021: $679

So, I guess the saying “you gotta risk it for the biscuit” works here, so while despite my high spend on competition fees, I turned the largest profit on record, one that will be hard to beat! And while I have entered a number of FPL Cash Leagues that will only come to fruition next year, I am not sure that there will be much in the way of winnings to come from those, given how tight these competitions are! Unlucky! Anyway, 2021 goes down as my most successful fantasy season to date, lets see what the new year brings!

Yearly Fantasy Sport Winnings:

  • 2021: $679
  • 2020: $120
  • 2019: -$220
  • 2018: $316.25
  • 2017: $515

Fantasy Payday – March 2021 Edition

After a successful, if somewhat interrupted 2020 Fantasy Sports Season, I am now kicking off the 2021 Season by having signed up to a record amount of Cash Leagues in NRL Supercoach. Obviously, big risks can lead to big rewards, or possibly a massive loss, especially if I am UNLUCKY! Being so early in the year, I have no winnings to speak of so far, but I have a substantial lead in the Pickin’ Strawberries FPL H2H Competition, and am currently running a close second in the Strawberry Garden FPL Classic Competition. While this looks promising for some early winnings, I do not like to count my chickens before they hatch!

2021 Fantasy Sports Spend:

  • $50 – Tackle Happy 2021 NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $25 – Sandow Memorial 7 NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $50 – The Bowman Cup XI NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $50 – Pineapple Express NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $25 – Lobster Mornay NRL Supercoach Competition
  • $25 – Erin Molan Cup NRL Supercoach Draft Competition
  • $25 – NRL Supercoach Plus Pass
  • $5 – NRL Supercoach Stats Website Donation
  • Fantasy spend to date 26/3/2021: $255

As per usual, I count my Fantasy Sports Spend on the calendar year, which means my overall fiscal position at the moment reads something like this:

2021 Fantasy Sports Balance:

  • 2021 Fantasy Sports Winnings Balance to date 26/3/2021: -$255

Lets hope by year end I am in the black! If I back myself, I am sure I can turn a tidy profit.
